This month, the featured venue is APT Gallery.  A stalwart of the Deptford Galleries scene, APT has an intriguing story to tell.  APT was set up in 1995, in the Old Harold Works.  A group of artists worked together to secure funding for this project, with an aim to build a gallery space and 37 affordable studio spaces.   It worked and now the gallery operates from its character-full site by Deptford Creek. 

The gallery has some innovative exhibitions, mainly by emerging artists.  APT Gallery is most famous for its annual ‘Creekside Open,’ in 2009 this was selected by Mark Wallinger and Jenni Lomax from the Camden Arts Centre.  A great opportunity for artists to exhibit their work and be exposed to major curators.

The studios are inhabited by some very interesting professional artists, many specialising in sculpture and large-scale works (because of APT’s purpose built sculpture yard).
